HAPPY VEGANUARY! 🥳

We’re so happy for it to be a new year, let alone it be the month to participate in such an amazing movement! This January, we’re encouraging everyone to take a bite into the world of veganism and discover all the delicious, and beneficially sustainable vegan recipes that can be created.

It has been such a huge success throughout the past seven years, and we look forward to celebrating it for another seven (and beyond)

Veganuary started back in 2014 through the non-profit charity, Veganuary! Jane Land and Matthew Glover founded and kicked-off the campaign in the UK by encouraging people to go vegan for the entire month of January by spreading the message that veganism can be fun and easy and partake in. Since the beginning, the number of people joining the Veganuary movement has significantly increased. In 2018, 170,000 people signed up, which was a 183% increase from 2017. In 2019 signups reached 14,000 per day leading to a total of 250,000 signups by the end of December. In 2020, 400,000 people signed up for the campaign. If that’s not amazing enough, over 600 restaurants and supermarkets promoted the Veganuary campaign and they have launched over 1200 new products in the UK alone!

Of course, Veganuary doesn’t only take place in the UK (it’s just where it was birthed), the movement has actually reached 192 countries!

Last year, the non-profit group expanded its efforts to the United States by hiring a director in Los Angeles and creating the website, us.veganuary.com. Hollywood stars like Joaquin Phoenix and Alicia Silverstone have lent their name to the cause this year alone. On New Year’s Eve, Natalie Portman urged her 5.9 million Instagram followers to take the pledge. “Fight climate chaos with your fork.” (Yes! Natatlie Portman said that!)

National food chains have also gotten hopped on the bandwagon. Just Salad, a fast-casual chain in New York City, is now selling a limited-edition “Veganuary” salad made with organic sesame tofu, roasted mushrooms and a carrot-edamame slaw. Also, Fresh Brothers, a pizza chain in California, is offering a free upgrade to vegan cheese.

It’s amazing how far we’ve come! Now, it’s your turn to take a swing at it. With our communities growth and knowledge in veganism, it is no longer as challenging to find plant-based products for all food groups. Here is a list of some delectable dishes you can create this month to get you inspired!
