Grilling Season is Back!
NoBull is excited for grilling season and all the opportunities to eat delicious food that comes with it! For some yummy inspiration, we came up with a quick tip list to remember when wearing your grillmaster hat this spring and summer. Asparagus, potatoes, tomatoes, onions, squash, and other vegetable prepared on the grill takes the taste to another level. And even if you’re not vegan, these tips will definitely still serve you because we all need to eat our veggies.
Clean first, cook second.
First things first, make sure your grill is squeaky clean! Especially if there was meat cooked previously on the surface, this is a very important step to avoid any cross-contamination. A quick and easy way to clean your grill is to put vinegar into an old spray bottle, spray the grill surface, and then scrub with a bristle brush or a piece of balled-up aluminum foil. If you’d prefer not to cook the vegetables directly on the grill, you can use a grilling basket! Remember to get your skewers ready if you want to enjoy your veggies kabob style.
Don’t rush preparation perfection!
Next, prepare your favorite veggies. Properly seed, peel, and cut your veggies before you brush them with whatever everyday oil you already have at home. Make sure you don’t slice your veggies too thin or they’ll be hard to handle and you will lose tons of flavor! The greater the surface area of the veggies on the grill, the more flavorful they will be! A pro tip with tomatoes is that if you buy them on the vine, you can keep the vine intact as a way to easily handle them on the grill.
Flavor your way.
The last step in preparation is to season! We recommend throwing all your veggies into a bowl (after they have been evenly coated with oil) and tossing your desired seasonings on top. Mix everything together by shaking, mixing, or even using your hands to make sure everything is seasoned to perfection. For a great spring feeling flavor, try combining lemon juice, salt, pepper, Italian seasoning, minced garlic, and fresh parsley. You can’t go wrong with this classic combination.
Grilling is a great reason to keep your house nice and cool while you enjoy hot and sunny weather outdoors. The combinations of your favorite veggies, seasoning, and preparation styles are endless, so find out what your perfect grill-out tastes and feels like this season. Grilled vegetables make a great side dish, but for the main course, throw a few NoBull no meat patties on the grill while you’re at it! Feeling inspired by this blog post?
