Spring brings us warmer weather and an opportunity to refresh. However you go about your spring cleaning, we recommend keeping our mother earth in mind. Our mission at NoBull is to eat as close to the earth as possible, so it’s no secret that we want to live out our days promoting other ways to be sustainable and overall environmentally friendly. Eating NoBull Burgers is one way to reduce your carbon footprint, but this spring season, we encourage you to pick up new habits to take your sustainability to the next level. These tips and tricks are small things that you can easily incorporate into your everyday routine, but will surely have a huge impact on the well-being of the environment in the long run.
Head down to your local farmer’s market. Eating local highly reduces environmental impact by cutting down on transportation which leads to lower levels of carbon emissions. Not only will you be supporting a local business owner, but you will also be doing the environment a huge favor. If you can’t find a local farmer’s market near you this season, look out for labels in your grocery store that will indicate if products are locally sourced.
Skip the plastic bags and avoid single-use packaging. Be conscious of your plastic waste this spring. We’ve all heard the scary statistics about why we need to recycle, but the real path to change starts with reducing! Here are 3 specific challenges for you to try to reduce your personal plastic use.
- Make your own cleaning products. Doing so is less toxic and cuts down on plastic waste.
- Skip the produce bags at the grocery store. Opt to use reusable produce bags or continue to use the plastic ones available in the store until they are worn out and can no longer be used. Then, recycle accordingly!
- Make use of what you’ve got. Ask yourself if you need an item brand new, or if it’s something that can be borrowed, thrifted, or brought back to life. This cuts down on plastic packaging as well as extending the product life of your items at home.
- Avoid plasticware at home and while dining out. Politely refuse plastic straws and other plasticware when you are out and choose to carry reusable options wherever you go.
Support businesses that are openly supporting the environment! Aside from the brief list above, there are so many ways to support the environment. We encourage you to take some time out of your week to research brands you support and their stance on the environment. Choose to put your money where your values are and stop supporting large corporations who selfishly make decisions that negatively impact our earth. At NoBull, we have committed ourselves to finding ways to be sustainable in all of our practices without ever compromising flavor and overall quality of our products.
No matter how small you feel on this planet, you can make a change! Happy Sustainable Spring.
