The new year is right around the corner! New year, new you, are we right? What are your resolutions? Maybe you want to change up your diet or make it to the gym before tackling your busy day. No matter what your plan may be, NoBull is here to help!
We can all relate to excitedly setting a New Year’s resolution, working hard at it for a few weeks, and then letting it slip. We get it, change is hard. Especially when the person you are accountable for is yourself! Here are some tips to create goals you can (and want) to stick with:
Make Achievable Goals
Goals can go wrong when we aim too high. We’re not saying you shouldn’t make big and powerful goals, but make sure that the goals you set are measurable and achievable. For example, you may set a goal such as, “eat healthy for every single meal.” It’s a great goal, but hey, we’re human! When we try to change our habits cold turkey, our subconscious can feel under attack. In order to minimize this, it’s best to ease into shorter, more gentle goals. This prevents frustration and resentment, which are key if you are looking to stick with your goal long term. Instead, set a goal along the lines of, “I want to eat two healthy meals each day for one month.” This way, the goal is over a smaller amount of time. Also, once you stick to it, the goal can keep growing! Self high five!
When we set goals around healthy living, they need love and attention. No worse feeling than getting down on yourself because you have no healthy food in the kitchen, or you didn’t make it to the gym because you needed those few extra minutes of sleep. To stay on track with your health goals, always set yourself up for success. When it comes to healthy eating, meal prep! Make healthy meals in bulk to stash in the fridge or freezer for the week. This way, when you are craving unhealthy food or eating out, you have easy access to a healthy meal in the fridge. Try crumbling some NoBull on top of a salad, put it between a whole wheat or gluten-free bun or even toss it in some yummy chickpea pasta. Bam, your pasta and burger cravings satisfied.
To keep our burgers fresh, stash us in the freezer. When you’re ready for a quick and healthy meal, throw them on the stove, in the toaster oven or even the air fryer. Easy peasy!
DON’T BE TOO HARD ON YOURSELF
As we said, it can be so easy to give up when you slip. You only have one life, and it’s so important to stay present and realistic with yourself. Plan where you can, get back on the wagon if you fall off, and remind yourself that lifestyle changes take time. If you sleep through your early morning alarm and you don’t make it to your workout, or you didn’t have time to meal prep during a busy weekend, it is okay! Don’t let one lapse determine the entire outcome. Live your life, authentically, passionately and deliciously with NO BULL!
